Body Building

Mandatory Poses

  • Front Double Bicep

  • Front Lat Spread

  • Side Chest

  • Side Tricep

  • Rear Double Bicep

  • Rear Lat Spread

  • Abdominals with one thigh

  • Men Only: Favorite Most Muscular

  • NO Gymnastic Moves Are Allowed

 

Body Building Routines must be a maximum of 2 minutes to music of the competitor’s choice

POSING SUITS

  • All suit bottoms must be V-shaped, no thongs are permitted.

  • Suits worn by male competitors must be plain in color with no fringe or wording.

  • All suits will be inspected at check-in’s. Every competitor must wear their competition suit under their clothing to check-in’s for inspection. If your suit is not inspected you will not be permitted to compete.

  • Competitors are not permitted to alter the fit of the posing suit by hiking it up in the back or by pulling up the sides at any time while posing on stage.

 

 

Bikini

  • Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No Thongs are permitted. We advise athletes to bring two (2) suits to check in if you are unsure. If the fronts of the suit(s) bottoms are too low and the judges deem them so at check-in’s, then the suit must be constructed higher, otherwise the Athletes will be scored down if the suit is not up to standard.

  • Competitors must wear high heels.

  • Competitors may wear jewelry.

 

Judges will be scoring competitors using the following criteria:

  • Balance and Shape

  • Overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.

 

1. PRESENTATION/POSING

  • Competitors will walk onstage alone and perform their Model Walk (personal preference)

  • The Model Walk consists of the following:

 

Walk to the center of the stage , stop and do a front stance, then a full turn and do a back stance, then turn to the front again and face the judges as directed then proceed to the side of the stage.

 

2. COMPARISON ROUND

  • The competitors will be brought back out in a group and directed to do a full front and back stance.

  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in half turns.

 

Fitness

  • The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted.

  • Competitors must wear high heels

  • Competitors may wear jewelry

 

The Fitness Routines must include the following mandatory moves and be a maximum of 2 minutes to music of the competitor’s choice:

  • Push Up (of any kind)

  • High Kick

  • Straddle Hold

  • Side Split

The Fitness Routine will count for 2/3 of the score.

Competitors will be brought back out in a group for comparison.

 

Figure

Figure athletes should display-

  • An overall balance of muscular development which includes rounded delts, sweep to the quads, back depth, and width – emphasis is on balance and symmetry

  • Small amount of muscle separation

  • A nice “V” taper

  • Tight glutes with separation between the hamstring and glute area

  • Balance between the upper and lower body

 

Figure athletes should NOT display–

  • Striations or graininess

  • Muscularity thickness associated with Women’s Physique

 

Competitors will walk to the center of the stage alone and perform quarter (1/4) turns, face the judges as directed then proceed to the side of the stage.

  • Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted.

  • Figure will not have a routine round.

  • Competitors must wear high heels.

  • Competitors may wear jewelry

 

Classic Physique

MEN’S CLASSIC PHYSIQUE COMPETITION WEAR

Competitors are required to wear posing shorts. NO board shorts and NO Bodybuilding posing trunks. We have provided a link to the NPC Competition Classic Physique shorts below. Competitors are required to wear the classic physique cut and all shorts must be black.You can purchase NPC classic shorts HERE.

All suits will be inspected at the check-in’s. Every competitor must wear their competition suit under their clothing to check-in’s for inspection. If your suit is not inspected you will not be permitted to compete. No Exceptions.

 

MANDATORY POSES

The Judging will consist of comparisons of the quarter turns and the following mandatory poses:

  • Front Double Biceps

  • Side Chest

  • Back Double Biceps

  • Abdominal and Thighs

  • Favorite Classic Pose (Not Most Muscular)

 

Final Comparisons will consist of

  • Posing Routine (maximum of 60 seconds with music) (No Gymnastics Moves are Allowed)

  • Confirmation round if necessary

  • Posedown for overall title

 

Classic Physique Routines must be a maximum of 2 minutes to music of the competitor’s choice

 

Men’s Physique

Judges will be looking for fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity should be marked down.

Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts that are just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no large logos are permitted on the board shorts, small manufacture logos are acceptable. Competitors will enter the stage without a shirt and barefoot.

No Gymnastics Moves are Allowed. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.

 

Judging:

Presentation

  • Competitors will walk to the center of the stage alone and perform front and back turns with optional pose of hand on hip or hand in pocket, finishing facing the judges as directed then proceed to the side of the stage.

 

Comparison Round

  • The competitors will be brought back out in a group and directed to do turns.

  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in turns.

 

Women’s Physique

Women’s Physique athletes should display-

  • More muscular density than seen in figure

  • Clear muscle separation – small amount of striations is acceptable

  • Emphasis is on muscular development with full muscle bellies

  • Muscular development should be balanced between upper and lower body

 

Women’s Physique athletes should NOT display –

  • An overly striated physique

  • Graininess associated with female bodybuilding

 

MANDATORY POSES

  • Front double biceps/open hands

  • Back double biceps/open hands

  • Side triceps with leg extended

  • Side chest with arms extended

  • Front ab/thigh

  • Finals routine will be maximum 90 seconds in length, performed to music of athletes choice

  • No props will be used.

  • No heels may be worn at any time during the competition/judging of women’s physique.

  • No Gymnastics Moves are Allowed.

 

SUITS

Suits worn by Women’s Physique competitors for prejudging must be a two piece. Suits do not have to be solid in color. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted.

All suits will be inspected at the check-in’s. Every competitor must wear their competition suit under their clothing to check-in’s for inspection.

 

Wellness

The wellness division is for females with athletic physique’s that showcase more body mass in the hips, glutes and thigh areas. The upper body is developed but not to the same degree as the lower body. Athlete should display an athletic appearance with slight separation but no striations. Not as lean and defined as Figure and Women’s Physique; more inline with Bikini athletes, but wellness athletes will have slightly more muscle.

 

Posing and Presentation

Front:

Competitors will face front with one hand on hip, one arm straight down and one leg slightly extended. We do not want to see the arm off to side with the elbow bent and the wrist bent upwards.

 

Quarter turn Right:

Competitors will turn slightly facing the judges with right hand on hip and left arm straight down and right leg bent at knee. More like a twisting side pose that Bikini competitors perform.

 

Quarter turn Rear:

Competitors will face the rear with lower back arched with glutes pushed back

 

Suits

  • The suit bottom must be V-shaped in the front and is traditionally all material with no connectors and sits high up on the hips. The cut of the suit back is the same standard that is currently in place for the Bikini division. No Thongs and No T-back suits allowed.

  • Competitors must wear high heels.

  • Competitors may wear jewelry.
